Appleton Flag Day Parade
Winnegamie Dog Club will once again participate in the Appleton Flag Day Parade on Saturday, June 8th, beginning at 2:00 pm near Erb Park. This is a televised parade and is the oldest Flag Day parade in the country, attracting as many as 50,000 spectators. This is a long parade (beginning at Erb Park and ending in downtown Appleton), so be sure to bring water for yourself and your dog. You might also want to arrange for someone to pick you up at the end of the parade so you don’t have to walk back to your vehicle. A detailed map of the staging area will be posted once our entry is finalized. If the temperature is near or above 80° on the day of the parade, WE DO NOT RECOMMEND BRINGING DOGS. Instead, we will carry signs explaining that our dogs are home enjoying the air conditioning and the dangers of hot pavement. We also have leashes with “invisible” dogs that the crowd always enjoys. We are unit # 99 and will be lining up at 1:45 pm on Wisconsin Avenue, east of Morrison Street. See staging map and parade route below.
